Does it make sense to travel around the world for a conference?

If you are a regular reader of the SPIN Ideas blog, you will know that I am a big advocate of building relationships: with your audience, clients, media partners and any other shareholders.
In the past two and a half years, online meetings have opened new doors for us and enabled us to meet and build relationships with people from all over the world, some of whom we would have never reached out to otherwise.
However, as humans are social animals, we do need to meet people face to face, get inspired, have conversations, learn about new ways of working, hear about and debate on different topics, and see different perspectives. One may argue that most of the above can also be done online; however, it is very hard - if not impossible - to replicate the energy and emotions you experience when participating in a face-to-face event.
This year, for the first time, we connected with Dubai Welcome Center, the organizer of GITEX GLOBAL and North Star Conference. Slowly but surely, they have become a startup and tech hub that can’t be ignored.
